Can I print wirelessly to my printer?
Today there are a couple of options in terms of setting up your printer wirelessly.
- Your Wireless Router might support printing via USB
- You can purchase a wireless print server from one of the following companies:
Connecting via your wireless router can become an issue if that is not where you want your printer. Suppose that you have high speed via a cable modem, but where your router and modem there is not a lot of room for your printer? In this first scenario you are limited to where your router is placed.
The second option allows for more flexibility. For now you can place your printer where you would like it (within reason) so long as the wireless print server can talk to the wireless router. Depending on most homes that is within about 100 feet, but can be limited to 40 or 50 all depending on how your home is constructed.
From my informal research I am hearing more and more issues around the wireless print servers that allow for 2 print devices. For some reason the unit becomes confused after time and will not print to either device. I would recommend a unit that will allow wireless printing to a single printer. I think you will find fewer problems as well
